Tasting Notes
Delicately perfumed and pure on the nose, the 2024 Chasse Spleen shows a beautiful floral profile. Although it’s quite expressive on the nose, the palate feels a little bit less ethereal with ripe tannins that are a slightly angular at the moment. This will likely integrate with the freshness and acidity that transpires on the finish, but will need time to come together and show its full potential. Harvested at 40hl/ha and aged in 40% new oak, with 12.5% alcohol. Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot

The 2024 Chasse-Spleen offers up aromas of minty cassis and pencil shavings, followed by a medium-bodied, somewhat firm and taut palate.
Chalky, sappy, redcurrant and raspberry fruits, a little dilute through the mid palate, but skilfully balanced with spice and campfire smoke, unfussy and charming, more austere than in recent vintages. 40 hl/ha yield.
The 2024 Chasse-Spleen takes time to cohere in the glass. This is a bit musty at first, though it gains fresh red berry fruit and light pencil shaving scents that emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins on the entry. This is a strict Chasse-Spleen that's a bit "rigid" and is missing some flesh toward the finish. The 2024 will require a very "hands off" élevage.
About the producer

If there’s one Moulis estate you know, it is likely Chasse-Spleen, today owned by the Foubet family. Vines have been planted here since the 16th century, and today it has an impressive 100 hectares to its name.
