Mt Eden and old Wente clone. No stabilisation on the whites. Partial malo. Pale gold in colour. Toasty, custardy nose with lemon zest. Fat palate, a bit warm with textural cedary oak – quite phenolic. Moderate broad acidity. Toasty pithy finish – popcorn kernels and lemon. It's more of a Rhône structure than a Chardonnay structure – sticky, almost tannic. (SCJ)

The 2021 Chardonnay Estate, matured for 11 months in 100% new French oak, is scented of quince, pear and lemongrass with touches of roasted almond and flint. The medium-bodied palate is satiny and expansive with a balance of concentrated fruit and flinty tones and offers a long, detailed finish.
