Garnacha from the Sierra de Gredos. 60-year-old gobelet vines planted in sandy and granite soils at 900 m. Low yields (30 hl/ha). Whole-bunch fermentation with wild yeast in 5,000-l oak cask. Long but gentle extraction. Aged for 12 months in 500-l barrels. Very delicate, soft and refined, it is complex and intriguing showing herbal character and ash aromas. Little extract but great finesse, tannins are very delicate and it has moderate but still balancing acidity. Touch of meatiness and elegant spiciness at the back palate. Subtle Garnacha style. (FC)

The just-bottled 2014 Rozas 1er Cru is still very young and you see the wild berry fruit in its wild phase. This is sourced from different plots that total five hectares of vineyards that for now are yielding very little fruit, but as they work them, yields should increase and so should the number of bottles. Here the minerality is more pronounced than in the Bruja, longer and more persistent, more refined. When it comes to the two vintages tasted, it's hard to decide between this and the 2013, as the 2013 right now is extremely attractive, but in the long run this 2014 might turn better. 5,585 bottles produced and filled in November 2015.
