Tasting notes
The 2019 Zinfandel 1910 Block is dark, ample and imposing. A wine of breadth, the 2019 packs a serious punch of dark fruit, grilled herbs, chocolate, leather, incense and tobacco all open with a bit of coaxing. This hulking Zinfandel needs a few years in bottle to soften, as it is quite the brute today. Red/purplish fruit and searing tannins lend notable persistence.

Lastly, the 2019 Zinfandel 1910 Block checks in as 98% Zinfandel and 2% Petite Sirah from a single block of the estate vineyard in the Russian River Valley. It was destemmed and spent 18 months in 8% new French oak. It ranks with my favorites in the lineup, offering an incredibly aromatic bouquet of red, blue, and black fruit intermixed with ground pepper, dried orange peel, and candied violets. Rich, intense, and medium to full-bodied, with beautiful tannins, it’s another wine that grows in stature with time in the glass, delivering ripe tannins and a beautiful finish. Give bottles 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following decade.
