The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Actaeon Quixote Vineyard comes from a site previously owned by Carl Doumani. (The Quixote Vineyard was recently sold to the Chinese.) This tightly knit, complex 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits notes of forest floor, damp earth, truffles, white chocolate and red and blackcurrants. This complete, refined wine will benefit from several years of cellaring and age nicely for 12-15 years.
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Actaeon Quixote Vineyard is striking. There is virtually no sensation of tannin, but there is plenty of Stags Leap personality in the glass. Expressive blue and black fruits abound, followed by violets, cloves, menthol and licorice. Even with all of its richness and opulence, the 2012 remains light on its feet for a wine of its size, with tons of aromatic nuance and super-finessed tannins.
