Tasting notes
An agile and fluid red with a weightless nature despite being dense and layered. Hibiscus. Orange peel. Old vine character. Full and beautiful. Lovely round texture with a bright and vivid center palate. Better in a year or two.

Pale ruby-purple, pure raspberry and pomegranate define the 2020 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict, with touches of charcuterie, cracked pepper, mushroom and forest floor emerging as it spends time in the glass. The palate is fragrant and harmonious, offering detailed flavors, chalky tannins, mouthwatering acidity and a very long finish. Lovely!
The 2020 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Block 5 is a nervy, tightly wound wine build more on energy and delineation than volume. Red-toned fruit, chalk, white pepper and floral top notes show terrific focus. The Block 5 is just a touch narrow relative to some of the other wines in the range.
The 2020 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is a very pretty, aromatic wine from the old-vine section of this site, first planted in 1971. Lifted and ethereal, the 2020 is wonderfully nuanced from start to finish. As always, this is an especially aromatic Pinot and yet the stems (67%) aren't especially evident. Gorgeous.
