Tasting notes
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece marries the textural richness that is such a signature of the house style with pretty floral top notes and bright, saline underpinnings that likely are attributable to the Howell Mountain fruit in the blend. It’s a gorgeous wine from Hall.

All Cabernet aged 26 months in 75% new French oak, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece is another head-turning 2018 that's up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. This rich, well-oaked, powerful Cabernet reveals a dense purple/plum color as well as a rock star nose of blackcurrants, espresso roast, smoked tobacco, and Asian spices. Decadent, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has notable tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a stunning finish. This majestic, concentrated, ripe, sexy beast of a wine will drink well for two decades with no issues.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece is another impressive wine in this range. Usually, the Jack's is a pretty big wine, but the 2018 is quite elegant and restrained by comparison, although it is also embryonic. There is terrific purity of fruit and plenty of depth, but those qualities are expressed in more of an understated manner.
Opaque purple-black colored, the barrel sample of 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant black cherries, warm plums and mulberries scents plus hints of baking spices, lilacs and fallen leaves with a waft of tree bark. Full-bodied, expressive and with loads of juicy black fruits, it has a firm, grainy texture and just enough freshness, finishing savory.
