Tasting notes
The dark red 2021 Barolo Del Comune Di Serralunga shows off a noble depth and Serralunga intensity, with ripe aromatics of kirsch, licorice candies, sappy crushed sage, and turned earth. The palate is ripe, with pure concentration, and retains lovely clarity within its more full-bodied frame without feeling weighty. It’s rounded and full, with ripe tannins, an even spine of acidity, and good length through the finish. It’s very nicely balanced, and while it’s very enjoyable to taste now, I anticipate this having a slow maturity if stored properly. It should drink well over the coming 12-15 years.

A clear jeweled and deeper ruby color, the 2021 Barolo Del Comune Di Serralunga D'Alba was also tasted from barrel and offers up notes of cherry lozenge, rosemary, and crushed flowers. I like this wine a lot for its weightless feel but incredible persistence and depth. It’s an exceptional vintage for this wine already.
The 2021 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a blend of eight sites across the village. Kirsch, blood orange, white pepper, chalk, mint and cinnamon all meld together as the 2021 opens in the glass. The gentler side of Serralunga is very much in evidence, although there is a good kick of tannin on the close.
