Score 90/100 · Drink 2025-2031, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous
Since 2014, winemaker Benoît Amirault has made two Malgagnes: one cuvée aged entirely in amphora, the other, which includes this 2023 Les Malgagnes, is 80% barrel-aged and 20% amphora-aged. This has more roundness and focus than the entirely amphora-aged example. It's elegant and light-bodied, containing the richness of sweet fruit in its core. The 2023 is bright and fruit-forward but delightfully composed, with fine tannins and lovely tension on the finish. This is a real joy to drink.
