Tasting notes
Closed nose with a hint of posh oak, smooth black fruit, a hint of damson jam, some wood spices and fresh acid. Chocolate and smoke linger on the finish, with a hint of floral character, but this is very tightly wound at the moment. (RH)

The 2007 PINTAS, the flagship wine here, is always interesting. It is never the thickest or biggest, but its combination of flavor, balance and grace usually makes it one of the most pleasing to drink. This year’s version has all the typical markers, the lovely balance, intense flavor and elegance, but it has some power, too. It was a bit closed when tasted, but I think it will grow into this score. My biggest concern was the obvious oak early on. Typically, it integrates well, but it needs to do so. Drink now-2022. Dense, powerful purple fruit flavours. Much purer and fresher than the 2006 – though with lots of fine tannin too. (JR)
