Tasting notes
The utterly refreshing 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Vieilles Vignes Le Boisrenard unwinds with fragrant linden blossom, honeysuckle, lemon zest and jasmine. Touching the medium-bodied palate with good flavor concentration and bright acidity, the 2022 concludes with a discrete salty tail on the uplifting finish.

Beaurenard's special cuvée, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Boisrenard, is mainly Clairette Blanche (42%) and Roussanne (32%), with 11% Bourboulenc, 10% Grenache Blanc, and 1% each of Clairette Rose, Grenache Gris, Picardan, Picpoul Blanc and Picpoul Gris. Matured in foudres and older barriques, it delivers scents of pear, melon and citrus, not of wood, with ample weight, a fine sense of balance and a silky, lingering finish.
A smaller production cuvée based on a mix of just about all the white varieties, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Boisrenard Blanc is a similar medium gold hue and boasts a brilliant perfume of honeyed orange, white peach, white flowers, spice, and crushed stone. This rich, medium to full-bodied, focused, and elegant white shows a vibrant, clean, lengthy style that will benefit from 6-12 months of bottle age and, I suspect, evolve gracefully for at least 4-6 years.
