Tasting notes
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Mystique begins with an open, accessible and rich nose with focused aromas of cherry skin and black plum essence that waft with bright floral and subtle spice tones. Medium-bodied, the palate turns slightly tart and rigid as velvety tannins sweep over the mouth, making this food-friendly. It ends with a deep, lingering berry-laced finish. 3,500 cases made. It's a steal at this price.

Dark red. A musky hint of reduction to the aromas of dark plum, redcurrant, mocha, tobacco and nutty oak. Plush and smooth on the palate but with enough acidity to give shape to its flavors of redcurrant, chocolate, tobacco, licorice and herbs. Balanced for early drinking but lacks the give of Sheridan's top Cabernets. There's no rush to drink this slightly herbal blend as it finishes with a firm spine of tannins.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Mystique, which has already been bottled, offers a complex, Bordeaux like vibe as well as lots of black cherry and currant fruits intermixed with lead pencil, dried earth, coffee bean, and licorice. I love its aromatics and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges, terrific balance, and just a classic Sheridan Vineyard style. It’s ideal for drinking over the coming decade as well.
