The 2020 Aglianico del Vulture Pipoli opens with a dark and intense mix of mocha, grilled herbs and medicinal blackberry. It’s soft and round, smoothing over the palate with ripe black fruits. Sage and dark chocolate notes appear toward the close. This finishes lightly structured with a balsamic tinge, leaving the senses pleasantly refreshed. While I’d prefer more freshness in the bouquet, the 2020 is a nicely balanced Aglianico del Vulture.
