Tasting notes
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with black cherries, scorched earth, licorice, smoke and asphalt. The aromas and flavors are beautifully layered in this precise, finely sculpted Cabernet Sauvignon. Bright saline notes frame a finish endowed with notable tension and pure energy. The blend is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

Paul Hobbs crafts these outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons for proprietors David and Karen Dunphy. Most of the fruit comes from the Dunphys’ vineyards in Yountville. Black Cordon was one of the most pleasant surprises of the month I spent in Napa Valley last year. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what develops here over the coming years. Tel.
