Tasting notes
A delicious Pinot Noir that sells for a song and has real character, the 2011 Pinot Noir comes all from purchased fruit and was aged all in neutral oak. Black cherries, spice, underbrush and earthy nuances all emerge from the glass and this medium-bodied, supple effort will provide plenty of pleasure over the coming couple of years. Drink now-2016. This is a joint project between the Pisoni Family and Master Sommelier Sara Floyd. The wines are rock-solid at the price. Tel. (800) 946-3130; www.luliwines.com

The 2011 Pinot Noir jumps from the glass with juicy dark cherries, cola, sweet spices and mint. An exuberant, fruit-driven wine , the 2011 is a typical, super-classic expression of Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot. I would prefer to enjoy the 2011 over the next 2-3 years, while the fruit retains its juicy, generous personality.
