(a blend of 74% cabernet sauvignon, 15% malbec and 11% petit verdot) Dark violet. Spice-tinged aromas of boysenberry, blackberry and blueberry. Deep, concentrated and structured, with youthful tannins framing bitter cherry and creme de mure flavors. Sexy notes of baking spices build on the back but this is a structured and focused wine in an Old World style, with impressive minerality and brightness on the finish. This should age nicely.

One of Bleasdale’s flagship wines, the 2003 Frank Potts Proprietary Red (a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, and 11% Petit Verdot) is fashioned from a selection of the finest barrels. The outstanding 2003 offers up notes of licorice, black currants, blueberries, and spice box. An elegant, attractive, pure, rich effort boasting decent acidity as well as a long finish, it should drink well for 7-8 years. Bleasdale produces some of the most reliable as well as fairly priced wines from Langhorne Creek that are good choices for both neophytes and connoisseurs.
