Score 93/100 · Drink 2026-2034, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jun 2024

Crushed ashen stones, dusty sage, flowery undergrowth and musky black currants from an earthy bouquet as the 2021 Hell's Kitchen smolders up from the glass. This is intense, youthfully coiled, with streamlined acidity and tart red and black fruits. While tannic and firm, the 2021 finishes with an airy freshness, mixing wild herbs and mineral tones along with a hint of sour citrus that makes for a lovely punctuation.

Score 92/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2021 Hell's Kitchen is composed of 45% Syrah, 32% Graciano and 23% Grenache matured for 16 months in 64% new French oak. A core of redcurrant and pomegranate is accented by potpourri, bergamot, Angostura bitters and allspice on the nose. The full-bodied palate is light on its feet with restrained, spicy flavors, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity, and it finishes with spicy layers. Offer it 2-3 years in bottle or a couple of hours in a decanter.

The 2021 Hell's Kitchen (45% Syrah, 32% Graciano, and the rest Grenache) is more smoky and gamey, with a Northern Rhône-like character in its black and blue fruits, white pepper, violet, and gamey, bacon fat-like nuances. With full-bodied richness, a layered, elegant mouthfeel, and that rare richness-without-weight style, it's another gem in this lineup that needs to be tasted to be believed. Drink bottles over the coming decade or so. Joshua Harp’s Jada Vineyard, with help from Napa’s Tony Biagi, has leapt into the top handful of producers in Paso Robles over the last few years and these 2021s might be the best yet.
