Tasting notes
Based on the 2015 vintage and disgorged in December 2020 with seven grams per liter dosage, the NV Brut Grand Cru Perle Noire delivers notions of honeyed apples, pear, smoke and fresh bread. Full-bodied, vinous and muscular, with a fleshy core of fruit and a pillowy mousse, it's a serious, concentrated Blanc de Noirs that, to my taste, could have flourished with a touch lower dosage.

A decadent and very flavorful Champagne with bread-dough, praline, pie-crust and apple-tart aromas and flavors. Full body. Creamy and flavorful. Extremely long and delicious. Drink now.
The NV Brut Grand Cru Perle Noire is another big, dramatic wine from Soutiran. Here the fruit possesses more structure, depth and power than the Blanc de Blancs in a style that exalts the unique qualities of Pinot Noir from Ambonnay. The Perle Noir reveals wonderful complexity and terrific overall balance. This is Lot BN06742, disgorged: February, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2013. Soutiran is a small producer based in Ambonnay who has been bottling his own Champagnes since 1970. At their best, the wines possess impeccable pedigree and tons of class.
