2011 Walt Pinot Noir Griffin's Lair

Bright red. Slightly reduced aromas of dark berry and cherry skin, complicated by smoke and licorice nuances. Bitter cherry and smoked meat flavors show a numbing medicinal quality and a sweeter touch of vanilla on the back half. Finishes with firm grip and good focus, the smoke and licorice notes repeating. I'd have liked more fruit sweetness here.
