Tasting notes
Produced from a high-density vineyard located above 700 feet altitude, the spicy dark cherry and plum-scented 2003 Pinot Noir Spirithouse is medium-bodied and intense. A focused, fleshy offering, it reveals charred oak-laced black fruits in its expressive core. If the oak fades with time my score will appear conservative. Drink this wine over the next 5-6 years. www.argylewinery.com; tel. (888) 427-4953

(the current Argyle releases are bottled under screwcap) Medium red. Sweet red and dark berries on the nose, with musky notes of underbrush, tobacco and roasted coffee. Big and broad, with very concentrated sweet raspberry and strawberry liqueur flavors showing impressive depth and richness along with striking purity. Lush, velvety and long on the back end, finishing on pure, precise strawberry and raspberry notes.
