Score 91/100 · Drink 2007-2013, Robert Parker, Dec 2007

The 2005 Syrah Harrison Clark is a fruit bomb with loads of blackberry and cassis fruit, medium to full body, noteworthy purity, and very little noticeable oak, which of course is one of the signatures of Copain wines. It should drink nicely for another 5-6 years. Previously recommended: 2004 Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch (92+), 2004 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard (94), 2004 Syrah Hawk’s Butte (92+), 2004 Syrah James Berry Vineyard (96), 2004 Syrah Madder Lake (91), 2004 Syrah Thompson Vineyard (95). Ruby-red. Intensely mineral aromas of bright redcurrant and wild strawberry with a hint of floral oil. Clean, vivid red fruit flavors are finely etched and refreshing, with a bright jolt of acidity on the back adding interest. Fine, restrained and vibrant, finishing with a note of strawberry. This vineyard is very chalky, according to Guthrie.
