Deep ruby-red. Complex nose combines black fruits, minerals and flint, along with an exotic suggestion of woodsmoke. Very ripe and creamy but a bit youthfully disjointed today, with strong acids not yet completely integrated. Intriguing hints of tobacco, spices, dried herbs and black pepper. Combines an almost exotic creaminess with distinctly Northern Rhone aromas and flavors. Finishes with ripe tannins. Also tasted: 2002 Riesling DuBrul Vineyard Yakima Valley.
