Medium red. Redcurrant, cherry, licorice and musky flowers on the nose. Spicy and firm-edged, with a medicinal quality to the tangy red fruit and candied rose flavors. Fleshes out with air and finishes with supple tannins and good, juicy persistence.

The outstanding yet backward 2008 Pinot Noir Reserve is medium to full-bodied, exhibiting plenty of strawberry and black cherry notes. It is the first wine to show some noticeable oak. It is a bigger, beefier, more structured wine and seems built to last 8-10 years at the minimum. This wine is loaded, but it is easily the least attractive for drinking at present. Nevertheless, it has high potential. Tel. (805) 688-1278; Fax (805) 686-1508
