2018 Fonterenza - Rosso di Montalcino Alberello

The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino Alberello is floral and exotic, with dusty roses giving way to dried cherries, cloves and crushed rocks. It washes across the palate with silky full-bodied textures that are perfectly contrasted by bright acidity, as masses of tart red berries and peppery herbs settle in toward the close. This leaves the palate encrusted in a layer of crunchy tannins, yet also a staining of primary fruits, as it finishes long yet fresh. The combination of concentration, sheer energy and regal structure displayed by the 2018 Rosso di Montalcino Alberello promises many good things to come. Fonterenza really captured some serious magic from the 2018 vintage. I can’t wait to see what the Brunello will offer.
