100% Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo). Palish ruby with orange tinges. Subtle spice nose with hints of rose petal, mulch and cherry. Same subtle notes on the palate. Great length and freshness. Proper depth and yet light with super-fine tannins. Unique and fine and with lots of potential.

The 2005 Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse is a classic Ar.Pe.Pe. wine that shows elements of maturity while also retaining a good bit of freshness, all int eh airy, weightless style that is so typical here. Orange peel, rose petal and smoke are some of the many nuances that waft from the glass as this gracious, ethereal Valtellina Nebbiolo shows off its pedigree.
