Tasting notes
Deep, shimmering ruby. A complex bouquet evokes ripe red fruits, candied lavender, baking spices and cola. Appealingly sweet and focused, offering intense raspberry, cherry, floral pastille and allspice flavors that deepen steadily with aeration. Fine-grained tannins lend gentle grip to a very long, focused finish that leaves juicy red fruit and spicecake notes behind.

The 2019 MCA Cuvée, a blend of Syrah with 25% Grenache and 5% Roussanne, is especially fragrant and detailed, with cassis, warm plums, violet and earth aromas at this youthful stage. The full-bodied palate is rounded and fresh, with super pure fruits and a long, uplifted finish. It's beautiful now and will continue to develop complexity with time in the cellar.
The 2019 MCA Cuvee is mostly Syrah yet includes 25% Grenache and 5% Roussanne. It reveals a deep purple, almost opaque hue as well as a gorgeous nose of ripe black fruits, roasted herbs, violets, cured meats, and pepper, with classic Syrah game and bacon fat-like nuances emerging with time in the glass. Rich, full-bodied, yet light on its feet, it's more up-front and ready to go than the other cuvées here, yet I've no doubt this will evolve for over a decade. It's a brilliant bottle of wine! The young Mark Adams continues to knock it out of the park, fashioning pure, balanced, elegant wines that still bring incredible California fruit and opulence.
