2015 Marchand-Tawse Echézeaux Grand Cru

The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru was completely de-stemmed. It has an expressive bouquet, elegant in style with plenty of brambly red berry fruit mixed with touches of chalk and granite infusing the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very well balanced with a keen thread of acidity, building towards the grippy but very well-balanced finish. This is an excellent Echézeaux that will give drinking pleasure over the next two decades.

(from the lieu-dit Les Poulaillères): Bright full red. Very ripe aromas of raspberry, strawberry liqueur and spices are lifted by a floral topnote. At once creamy and sappy, showing a restrained sweetness and a piquant note of orange zest to its red berry and spice flavors. More tight than fleshy in the early going, finishing with broad, granular tannins that spread out to dust the palate. Already displays captivating perfume but this wine will need time to blossom in the bottle.
