Notes of jam and mint on the nose. Full bodied, with chewy, slightly dusty tannins. I find it a little hollow in the mid-palate, but it\'s still outstanding. I would give it another couple of years. Pull the cork after 2012. 14+23+21+32. Find the wine

Another strong effort is the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Home Vineyard. It is fleshy, opulent, and classic, with plenty of fat, juicy, black and blue fruits intermixed with notions of cedar, wood, spice box, and licorice. As I have written in the past, Beringer offers between 200-250 cases of each of their single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons that go into their Private Reserve program. Interestingly, as good as the single vineyard cuvees tend to be, and they’re all very different, the Private Reserve blend is as good or better than the finest single vineyard, demonstrating that the blending process is essential and important. Red-ruby. Redcurrant, leather and fresh herbs on the nose. Juicy and firmly built, with nicely delineated redcurrant, cedar and loam flavors perked up by minerals and flowers. I like the combination of density and lift. Finishes with ripe, rather suave tannins and excellent length.
