Tasting notes
50% whole-cluster fermentation. Smells of strawberry and flowers, herbs and a hint of meatiness. Juicy and bright strawberry fruit flavours are shot through with herbs, flowers and a touch of umami. Gorgeous, supple tannins. Amazing acidity leaves a mouth-watering impression. Stunning. (AY)

From a vineyard in Amador County, the 2016 Grenache Shake Ridge Ranch is another translucent ruby-colored red from Angela that was brought up all in neutral barrels. Cherries, strawberries, blackberries, dried herbs, some earth, and peppery notes all flow to a medium-bodied, ultra-fine, finesse-driven beauty that shows the elegant style of this estate brilliantly. It has nicely integrated acidity, fine tannin, and loads of charm.
The 2016 Grenache Shake Ridge Ranch is surprisingly tannic, something I don’t think I would have ever said about any of Angela Osborne's wines. There is plenty of depth, but the 2016 also has a distinctly wild, powerful quality. Game, licorice, tobacco and savory notes from the whole clusters add layers of nuance throughout. This is a rare Tribute to Grace wine that demands cellaring.
