Tasting notes
(made from Barbaresco vines up to 15 years of age): Bright, moderately saturated medium red. Wild aromas of redcurrant, smoke, game and flowers, with a lightly candied quality. Some musky reduction dissipates to reveal slightly roasted flavors of sweet red berries, truffle and lees. A bit funky but juicy and energetic. Finishes with chalky, building tannins, a late floral nuance and moderate verve. Pelissero stirs the lees of his nebbiolo (but not his Barbarescos), which is aged in large Slavonian oak.

The 2012 Langhe Nebbiolo is shaping up to be a stunner. Rich, powerful and intense, the 2012 punches well above its weight. Dark cherry, plum and spice notes flesh out on the finish. What a gorgeous, gorgeous wine. Savvy readers would do well to pick up the 2012, by the case. This is super intense for what it is.
