Tasting notes
Medium verging on deep purple in colour. Brambly nose. Lots of extract on the palate with powdery drying tannin balanced by fruit roundness. A touch short on acidity. (SCJ)

Vida Valiente's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon The Estate comes from a five-acre parcel developed by winemaker Sam Kaplan and vineyard manager Jim Barbour. Hints of sage accent ripe cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush and creamy, then finishes with some slightly coarse-grained tannins.
From the estate in St. Helena that was planted by Sam in 2018 (five acres), the 2021 Vida Valiente Estate is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 24 months in new barrels. Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by a richly textured, medium to full-bodied, classic St. Helena Cabernet that has both red and black fruits, lots of spice and dried tobacco aromatics, perfectly integrated oak, fine tannins, and a great finish. It's going to benefit from bottle age, but it s a beautiful wine.
