Score 86/100 · Drink 2005-2013, Robert Parker, Feb 2005
This 5002-case blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc exhibits a dense plum/ruby/purple color along with hints of black currants, cherries, damp earth, and underbrush. Although a bit austere and tannic in the finish, it is an attractive 2001 to enjoy over the next 7-8 years. Tel. (707) 963-1616; Fax (707) 963-7952

Ruby-red. Aromas of redcurrant, tobacco, sassafras, leather, chocolate and mocha, with smoky and vegetal nuances. Spicy and moderately sweet, with good texture and rather rooty flavors of sassafras and mocha. Tannins began fairly sweet but turned a bit dry-edged with aeration.
