Tasting notes
Aromatic and deeply textured, the 2020 Chardonnay Mae Estate captures all the dynamic, citrus and mineral-infused energy of Justin Willett's new estate vineyard. I have long believed that, despite the Pinot Noir craze, Chardonnay is the variety that is best suited for the Sta. Rita Hills. This wine from a recently planted vineyard shows why. Fabulous.

Honeysuckle, light apple, and stone aromas that follow through to a medium to full body with bright and focused acidity with phenolic texture and a long finish. Green apple and light green mango with stone and a sense of saltiness. Very complex. Drink or hold.
The 2020 Chardonnay Mae Estate BR, aged in one new puncheon, is aromatically layered and pure. It opens with streaks of toast, matchstick and spice, and as it spends time in the glass, it blossoms to white peaches, quince and panna cotta. The palate offers a fine balance of mouthwatering acidity, a satiny texture and concentrated, savory flavor layers, and its texture and freshness draw out those flavors for an extended finish.
