Along with the Marston, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Stricker Vineyard Drew Block is the first vintage for this site, which is located on Mount Veeder. All varietal and aged 20 months in 60% new barrels, it has a beautiful, medium to full-bodied, layered, structured style that carries both red and blue fruits, some leafy herbs and cedar pencil nuances, plenty of mid-palate depth, and some classic, chalky, firmer mountain tannins. I love the overall balance here, and given its tannins as well as acidity, this is one of those 2021s to forget in the back of the cellar for 5-7 years. It's going to evolve for at least two decades.

Muscular and firm in texture, this young wine should have a great life ahead. Mt. Veeder is famous for its structured, cellar-worthy wines and this is no exception. Firm, fine-grained tannins stiffen the black cherry, blackcurrant and dark chocolate flavors that are focused and deep. Best from 2030.
Black cherries, cassis and hints of dried herbs appear on the nose of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder. Medium to full-bodied, it's reasonably accessible for a mountain wine, with a plump, appealing mouthfeel and a dusting of soft tannins.
