Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2014
Bright medium ruby. Very primary, high-toned aromas of urgent crushed blueberry and blackberry accented by spices and flowers. Sweet, pliant and vinous; not especially glyceral or unctuous but shows lovely framing acidity to the intense flavors of blackberry, black cherry, fruitcake and minerals. This suave, fine-grained wine builds nicely in the mouth and finishes with firm tannins, a restrained sweetness and lovely lift. A distinctly wine-like port, bottled for the U.S. importer by Niepoort. My favorite vintage to date under this label.
