Good saturated ruby-red. Riper on the nose than the Napa Valley offering, with notes of currant and licorice and a whiff of medicinal cherry. Generous and open in the mouth, with a sappy quality to the flavors of cherry, leather and earth. More mid-palate sweetness and flesh here. This is higher-toned than the NV bottling in a positive way. Finishes with substantial broad tannins and lingering notes of smoke and earth.
