Tasting notes
Although it has a cassis-liqueur and vanilla character, this very ripe cabernet also has nice freshness. The generous, supple tannins are already nicely integrated. If the finish were a little more polished, this would rate even higher. Drink or hold.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes mostly from the Lewelling Vineyard outside of Saint Helena. As with all these 2016s, it’s saturated purple-hued and offers a ripe bouquet of red, black, and blue fruits, graphite, scorched earth, spring flowers, and hints of leafy herbs. This beauty is full-bodied and concentrated, with a stacked mid-palate and building tannins. It needs 2-4 years of bottle age but should keep for two decades.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has a deep purple-black color and gives up notes of cassis, warm black berries and mulberries with touches of tobacco and sautéed herbs. Medium-bodied with a good concentration of muscular fruit framed by chewy tannins, it finishes on an earthy note.
