Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2008

Vivid red color. Cherry-cola, Asian spices and vanilla on the nose, with a musky herbal undertone. Fresher red berries on the palate, gaining power with aeration and picking up rooty sassafras and licorice character. Fleshy but composed, with chewy tannins gaining strength on the finish. Leaves sweet dark berries and cola in its wake. A mouthfilling wine but not overly ripe or heavy.
