Tasting notes
Good ruby-red. Currant, minerals and bitter chocolate on the nose. Ripe and lively, and not at all a fat style, with fresh acidity, strong graphite minerality and a stony nuance giving lift to the dark berry flavors. The sweet finish shows a firm tannic backbone but avoids coming off as dry. I find this quite attractive already.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Majesty is primarily from an Oakville Vineyard, with a small amount coming from Calistoga. A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it exhibits a dense purple color as well as notes of graphite, licorice, spice box, and moderate oak. This primary, unevolved 2007 has a lot of upside potential, but it needs 4-5 years of cellaring, and should last for 15-20. These two limited production cuvees are made by the increasingly well-known consultant, Luc Morlet, whose wines from his own winery will be reviewed in the February issue. Tel. (707) 363-7881
