Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills is based on 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a gorgeous bouquet of darker currants, chocolate, spice, and dried tobacco to go with a medium to full-bodied, round, supple, seamless style on the palate. With a layered, expansive mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and wonderful purity, this classic, world-class Cabernet will stand toe to toe with the best out there. While it already offers pleasure today (I followed this bottle for multiple days), it will cruise for 20-30 years in cold cellars.

Set to be released in early 2022, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 1311 will be approachable upon release, offering aromas of crème de cassis, juicy black plum and notions of crushed violets with layered oak tones in the glass. Full-bodied, ripe and juicy expressions burst forward in the mouth with focus and intention while showing succulent acidity and fine-grained tannins. The Cabernet continues with a long lingering and evolving finish that will drink well for the next decade and a half. Only 1,500 bottles were filled. Give it a try.
