Tasting notes
A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Red Blend BDX struts out of the glass with bold scents of blueberry pie, plum preserves and crème de cassis plus nuances of potpourri, unsmoked cigars, tapenade and cardamom. Full-bodied, the palate delivers a rock-solid structure of grainy tannins and lively acidity, boosting the densely laden black fruits, finishing savory.

The 2016 BDX is a later release that’s based on 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Cabernet Franc. Beautiful notes of blackcurrants, chocolate, truffle, and espresso all flow to a full-bodied, rich and textured Cabernet that has ripe, polished tannins and a big finish. This outstanding, classical Oakville blend is already drinking nicely yet should evolve for 15 years or more.
The 2016 BDX is lush, sumptuous and super-expressive. With BDX, the Robert Mondavi winemaking team aims to capture the spirit of the vintage with proprietary blend, in 2016 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Cabernet Franc. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and cloves come together in a rich, opulent expression of To Kalon.
