Tasting notes
This wine is a terrific bargain in high class red wine. A blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache, and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano, this wine (4,500 cases imported into the US), is the essence of chocolate, truffles, tobacco, and cherries in its nose and flavors. Dense and ripe, with a full-bodied personality, this is a deep, rich, round, compelling Rioja for drinking now as well as over the next decade. Readers should seriously contemplate purchasing this wine by the case. Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; tel. (617) 461-5767

Good medium red. Complex aromas of currant, roasted plum, cedar, leather, game and pepper. Lush and silky in the mouth, with superb intensity of flavor. Impeccable balance and richness gives this wine considerable early appeal, but it should age slowly and gracefully. Aeration brings even more intensity of flavor. Finishes very long, with dusty, ripe tannins. Certainly the greatest young reserva I've yet tasted from this superb producer-and an absolute steal at the price.
