The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hayne Vineyard offers a compelling interplay of intense, forward fruit and more floral/savory overtones that are woven throughout. Iron, smoke, red cherry, pomegranate and dried flowers open up in the glass, before the firm Hayne tannins kick in, a reminder that the wines from this great site develop beautifully with time in bottle.
Lots of plum and chocolate character on the nose and palate. Full body, soft tannins and a savory finish. Plenty of dried fruit such as strawberry and currants. Easy to please. Drink now.
From one of the great sites for old-vine Zinfandel in Napa, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hayne Vineyard is located on the back streets of St. Helena. Lots of blackcurrant fruit, tart acids, and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel are impressive in this young, vibrant, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon, that should easily stand the test of two decades of cellaring. The color is saturated ruby/purple, and the wine is still relatively tight. I suggest several years of bottle age for potential owners.
