Score 96/100 · Drink 2021-2053, Robert Parker, Dec 2016

A selection of the best barrels results in the wine called Clew. This is a big, powerful wine, particularly the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Clew, which comes from Coombsville. One hundred-seventy cases were made of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 100% French oak, this is no wimpy wine at 15.5% alcohol. It is super-concentrated, with a stunning nose of graphite, licorice and forest floor followed by off-the-charts richness, a skyscraper-like texture, and massive blueberry and blackberry fruit in addition to some loamy soil undertones. This stunner is still incredibly youthful and primary but promises to evolve and be drinkable in 5-7 years and last three decades or more.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Clew exudes richness and intensity. Inky blue and purplish fruit, spice and lavender inform this unctuous, super concentrated Cabernet. Soft contours and a racy, attention-grabbing personality make the 2013 a terrific choice for drinking over the next handful of years.
