Tasting notes
The 2009 Chardonnay Holly's Cuvee is a striking wine endowed with layers of pure fruit. It shows gorgeous balance, class and sheer pedigree from start to finish. Holly's Cuvee is a blend of the three parcels bottled separately under the Varner label (see my reviews in this issue.) Even though the blend is 71% Bee Block, 27% Amphitheater and 2% Home Block, it is the Amphitheater that comes through most in this terrific, multi-dimensional wine.

The Neely family owns Spring Ridge Vineyard, where brothers Jim and Bob Varner make their wines, and as well wines sold under the Neely label. The Neely wines are essentially selections culled from the same parcels that inform the Varner wines. Unfortunately I was only able to taste one wine from Neely this year. Tel.
