Tasting notes
The medium to deep ruby-purple colored 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard (Calera clone) features decadent black and blue fruit: black cherries, mulberries, plums and wild blueberries with suggestions of black pepper, licorice, tar and tilled soil. Full, rich, bold and very seductive, it has a firm backbone of grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long. 170 cases made.

Sporting a deep ruby color and being brought up in mostly new French oak, the 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is a stunner. Black cherries, black raspberries, forest floor and Asian spices all emerge from this rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure Pinot Noir that has serious class. Maxem is the personal label of the talented winemaker for Arkenstone, Sam Kaplan. The first vintage here was in 2015.
