Tasting notes
Good red-ruby. Floral aromas of raspberry, lilac and licorice show an inviting carnal quality. Juicy and suave in the mouth, showing superb lift and definition to its flavors of dark berries, black cherry and minerals. Fine-grained, sophisticated Syrah with slightly chewy tannins and a long, juicy finish.

The 2013 Syrah Black Label Les Collines (aged in 70% new French oak) is a thing of beauty. Fresh, yet concentrated, with terrific black fruits, smoked meats, pepper and liquid violets aromas and flavors, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a ripe, voluptuous texture and a great finish. It lacks a touch of the focus found in the Lewis vineyard, but it has more richness and depth. Give it a year or three and it should knock your socks off for a decade.
