Glass-staining ruby. Vibrant cherry and cassis aromas are complicated by hints of licorice, musky herbs and smoky minerals. Sappy dark fruit flavors are gently sweet and focused, with a peppery nuance adding lift and bite. Finishes smoky, spicy and long, the supple tannins sneaking in late to add shape.

From the youngest vines, the 2013 Cornas Premices is a medium-bodied, fresh, sexy wine that -- while it lacks the concentration and density of the Empreintes and Confidence -- has tons of charm, ripe plum, graphite and cassis aromatics, and a great finish. It’s another solid Cornas that savvy readers will buy by the case.
