Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004
Bright, dark red-ruby. Aromas of black cherry, pepper and chocolatey oak. Chunky but sappy, with juicy flavors of currant and maraschino cherry, complemented by spicy oak. Distinctly less primary, nuanced and deep than the Guadalupe bottling, this should also develop more quickly.
