I thought the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The G.T.O. was pure perfection on this occasion, and it's one of the legendary wines from this terroir. Incredible To Kalon blue fruits (cassis, darker berries), as well as lead pencil, toasty oak, and tobacco hints, all emerge on the nose, and this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a finish that won't quit. Incredible purity, extravagant richness, and flawless balance all define this insanely good Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that I wish every reader could taste. Drink bottles over the coming 30 to 40 years.

Available in magnums only, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The GTO needs a little coaxing to reveal slowly unfurling notes of blackcurrant preserves, blackberry pie, fruitcake and molten licorice with suggestions of chocolate-covered cherries, wild sage, cedar chest and fragrant earth. Full-bodied, the palate is seductively generous, featuring bold black fruit preserves and a firm, grainy foundation with an underpinning of soft, beautifully balanced acidity, finishing on a long-lingering exotic spice note.
